Welcome to Reception

Please contact us if you are interested in a Reception class place for your child.

Your child will start their main school education in Reception, on a full time basis. Old Earth admits children from a wide catchment area and also from our own nurseries, Little Earth and Old Earth school nursery.

Our two school reception classes are lead by two experienced reception class teachers and supported by full time teaching assistants.

Hot lunches are provided as part of the free school meal offer for all infant children. The children in Reception have access to the amazing onsite facilities including the running track, the MUGA etc.

As a team, we believe from the moment your child enters the EYFS at Old Earth they are exposed to invigorating and exciting learning environments and experiences. We strive to provide your child with secure foundations, so that they continue to enjoy lifelong learning!

  • 60 full time places for children in two reception classes

  • For children aged 4 by 31st August, to start in September

  • Applications are made via Calderdale Council Admissions process, therefore it is not the schools responsibility to allocate places

  • Applications are made between November and January via Calderdale Admissions.

What we offer

At Old Earth we have 60 children attending full time across two Reception classes, led by two teachers and two teaching assistants.

Wrap around care

Do you need childcare beyond the school day? Our wrap around care and holiday clubs are closely linked and offer children great quality childcare from breakfast until teatime, and during school holidays.

Learning in the Early Years

From the moment children enter the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) at Old Earth they are exposed to invigorating and exciting learning environments and experiences, whether they are 2, 3, 4 or 5 years old.
